    Art for Others

Thursday, October 9, 2008, 01:13 PM EST [For the Greater Good]

    It's time.

Each year for the past 4 years the "Pink Ribbon Turtles" Project has given in a drawing bead embroidery artwork that I designed and created.

The "Pink Ribbon Turtles" Project was something I created in memory of my mother who passed in August of 2000 with Breast Cancer.  All donations are given to the American Cancer Society earmarked for Breast Cancer Research.

The above "Jewels of the Sea" is one of the pieces given in the drawings this year.  The piece is framed in a cherry shadowbox frame and is a 14"x15" work of art I created for this year's entry.

Drawings...yes...more than one.  Though I began the project by myself...and up until this year was the sole bead embroidery artist for the project...this year I'm proud to announce that there will be three uniquely exquisite works of art to be given.

The other two pieces are works that were created by 8 different artists from around the world.  Each piece was completed by 4 different artists...then combined to create the entire work of art.

"Ling" - meaning compassion...was created by G. Coats of Michigan/J.Tuntas of Florida/D. Lewallen of Ohio and C. Bicker of Washington state.  The entire piece is in a beautiful 16"x20" walnut shadowbox frame.

"Kameko" - meaning tortoise - symbol of long life...was created by R. Patterson of Texas/M. Teresa of Portugal/G. Michel of New Mexico and A. Hotelling of North Carolina.  This beautiful turtle is also 16" x 20" and is matted and framed in a walnut shadowbox frame.

To find out more about the project and how to make your donation for drawing tickets please go to the following website: www.atawhisper.com/prt.htm

It is when we give that we recieve the most glorious gifts.

    God Bless.
